It’s the Journey Announces New Executive Director -Robin Cohen to take office March 15- ATLANTA (Feb 16, 2010) —It’s the Journey, Inc., who’s mission is to strengthen Atlanta’s breast cancer community by raising funds for local Atlanta organizations, announced today that their board of directors has chosen Robin Cohen as the organization’s new Executive Director. Cohen, who brings over twenty-years of management, fundraising, public relations and leadership experience to the position, will start in her new role effective March 15th. “Our board has been very deliberative in its search process in order for us to be able to appoint a new executive director who can help take us to the next level,” said, Robin Ramsey, Interim Executive Director for It’s The Journey, Inc. “Atlanta’s 2-Day Walk has a proud heritage and a dedicated volunteer and fundraising base, from which we will be able to grow the organization long into the future.” Since 2005, Cohen has served as the Chief Operating Officer for Temple Kol Emeth of Marietta, Georgia. She has previously worked for Perspectives On Performance, Inc. of Marietta, Georgia, RS Medical of Vancouver, Washington, and the American Heart Association. Cohen received her Masters of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and her Bachelors of Science with a focus in Public Relations from Florida International University. “I am humbled and honored to have been selected as the executive director of It’s The Journey,” said Cohen. “Whether you are walking for a family member, friend, husband or wife, each step taken during the two day walk is a step of personal commitment and a step for hope. My personal mission is to make sure that we provide a well-organized and worthwhile experience for our walkers, volunteers, sponsors and non-profit partners.” Cohen will be formally introduced to key supporters of It’s The Journey during the upcoming annual grant party which will be held March 1st at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Buckhead-Atlanta. During the grant party, It’s the Journey will be presenting 20 non-profit organizations with this year’s grant awards totaling more then $770,000. “This is about people helping people in every aspect of the battle against breast cancer, from diagnosis and support, to research, education, patient advocacy and beyond. And, with the funds that are raised in Atlanta staying in Atlanta, we all have a every reason to get behind and help grow the two day,” said Cohen.
